I'm Aaron, and Dorking's home — I've lived and played here for years, so a wedding in town or out in the hills around it is about as local as it gets for me. The day usually runs the same way. A song as you come in, something quiet while the register's signed, then I move to wherever the drinks are and play for an hour and a half or so while everyone settles. Most couples keep me on for the evening too.

Just a guitar and a voice, no backing tracks filling in the gaps. I've done enough weddings round here to read a room and know when to lift it and when to sit back.

The wedding reel

A couple of minutes of the real thing — me playing live at weddings.

Dorking weddings I've actually played

These are ones I've actually played. Not a wishlist.

Denbies Wine Estate

England's biggest vineyard, and pretty much on my doorstep. I've played a good few weddings here — the conservatory and the barn both take an acoustic set really nicely.

Wotton House

The old country house just outside town. Lovely grounds, and a good spot for a drinks set out on the terrace when the weather plays ball.

Burford Bridge

Tucked right under Box Hill. I've played plenty here over the years — a proper bit of Surrey countryside.

Your venue not on here? Doesn't matter. I play all over Surrey, and there's no travel charge inside the county.

What I'll play on the day

The ceremony

A song as you walk in, something under the register signing, and a song on the way back out. All learned for you beforehand.

Drinks reception

An hour and a half or so while everyone gets a drink and settles in. Quiet under the chat, a bit more when it lifts.

The evening

An optional set later on, before any DJ or disco. The kind of songs people end up singing along to.

Dorking wedding questions

How much does a wedding singer cost in Dorking?

It depends how much of the day you want covered. Some couples book me just for the ceremony, others for the whole day through to an evening set. Tell me roughly how the day runs and I'll send back a straight price. Dorking's home, so there's certainly no travel charge.

Have you played at Denbies, Wotton House or Burford Bridge?

Yes, I've played weddings at all three, plus loads of other places in and around Dorking — it's my home town. If your venue isn't one I've done, that's no problem. I'll talk you through how I'd approach it.

Can you learn our first dance and a ceremony song?

Yes. I learn up to three songs especially for your day. Usually that's the first dance, a song for the ceremony, and sometimes one for a parent dance.

Do you bring your own PA and are you insured?

Yes to both. My own PA, and public liability insurance that covers what venues ask for. I turn up, set up, and stay out of the way.
