I'm Aaron, a singer and guitarist from Dorking, and I play a lot of garden parties and summer BBQs across Surrey. Outdoors suits exactly what I do.
Solo, but with a sound far bigger than one bloke and a guitar — acoustic and electric, with backing tracks behind me for a full band feel when the party gets going. Out in a garden that matters: it carries without needing a stage or taking over.
I'll keep it relaxed while people eat and catch up in the afternoon, then lift it as the evening comes in — and if you want the music to run late, I put the guitar down and DJ so the night keeps going. All my own gear, set up in a corner of the garden.
What it costs
Booked separately, a function band is £1,200–£1,880 for the night and an evening DJ another £300–£755 on top — £1,500 and up for live music and a dancefloor.
£700
for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday — £500 Monday to Thursday
The whole night, 7.30pm till midnight — live sets and the DJ, one act. £250 holds your date, the balance on the night.
How a garden party tends to go
Afternoon & the food
Easy acoustic while the BBQ's on and people are milling about with a drink — there, but not in the way of the chatting.
Into the evening
It lifts as the sun drops. The singalong songs, acoustic and electric, the bit where everyone ends up joining in.
Keep it going
If you want a late one, the guitar goes down and I DJ — same act, no second booking, the garden party that didn't want to end.
What you get
- —A full band sound from one person — acoustic and electric, with backing tracks
- —My own PA that carries outdoors, plus party lighting for when it goes dark
- —Live sets and a DJ set if you want the night to run late — one act, one fee
- —I just need a power socket within reach (or tell me and I'll sort it)
- —Public liability and equipment insurance, the cover venues ask for
Questions people ask
Can you play outside, in a garden?
Yes — it's one of my favourite ways to play. I bring my own PA that carries fine outdoors and lighting for when it gets dark. I just need a power socket within reach; if that's tricky, tell me and I'll sort a solution.
How much is live music for a garden party?
£700 for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and £500 Monday to Thursday — a full evening, 7.30pm till midnight, live sets plus me DJing the rest of the night on all my own gear. £250 holds the date, the balance on the night. If you only want a shorter afternoon set while people eat, tell me the hours and I'll give you a straight figure for that instead.
What happens if it rains?
The music can carry on, the gear can't get wet. As long as there's some cover for me and the PA — a gazebo, a marquee, or moving inside — we're fine. Worth having a plan B in the British summer.
Do you do BBQs and afternoon parties as well as evenings?
Yes. A relaxed afternoon set while the BBQ's on, a full evening, or both rolling into one. Tell me how your day runs and I'll fit around it.
Are you a band or one person?
One person, with a full band sound. Acoustic and electric guitar, vocals, and backing tracks behind it so it fills the garden like a band — without the cost or the crowd of one.
What people say
A few words from the venues, couples, and event hosts I've played for across Surrey and the South East.
“Love finding out Aaron is playing in a local pub near me — always such a fantastic night. My son surprised me with a party for my 40th and got Aaron to do the music; we had a fab night dancing and singing to all our favourites.”
“We loved having you there, Aaron — it made the night, and so many people have commented.”
