I'm Aaron, a singer and guitarist from Dorking, and I play christenings, baptisms and naming days across Surrey — usually the get-together afterwards, at home, a hall or a venue.
These are family days, so I keep it relaxed: easy acoustic while people arrive, eat and catch up, gentle enough to talk over and with little ones around. It sets a lovely tone without taking the day over.
If the afternoon rolls on into more of a party, I've got the bigger sound there too — acoustic and electric with backing tracks behind it for a full band feel, and I'll DJ later if you want to keep it going. Same act, whichever way the day goes.
What it costs
Booked separately, a function band is £1,200–£1,880 for the night and an evening DJ another £300–£755 on top — £1,500 and up for live music and a dancefloor.
£700
for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday — £500 Monday to Thursday
The whole night, 7.30pm till midnight — live sets and the DJ, one act. £250 holds your date, the balance on the night.
How the day tends to run
The gathering
Soft acoustic while people arrive and the food's out. Warm and easy, fine to talk over, nothing too loud for the little ones.
As it relaxes
A few more of the songs people know once everyone's settled — the kind that get a grandparent and a toddler dancing together.
If it becomes a party
Want it to carry on? The full band sound and a DJ set are there too — the christening that turned into a proper afternoon.

Questions people ask
Isn't live music too loud for a christening with children around?
Not the way I do it. For a christening I keep it gentle and easy to talk over — there to warm the room, not to take it over. If the afternoon turns into a party later, I can lift it then.
How much is live music for a christening?
A full evening is £700 at a weekend or £500 Monday to Thursday (live sets plus me DJing the rest of the night, with my own gear), £250 to hold the date and the balance on the day. Most christenings only want a shorter afternoon set, which is less — tell me the hours and I'll give you a straight figure for that.
Can you play at our house?
Yes, plenty of christenings are at home. I bring my own PA and set up neatly in a corner; I just need a power socket within reach. Gardens are fine too in good weather.
What do you play?
Easy, familiar songs that suit a family afternoon, plus anything you'd like me to learn. Acoustic and gentle for the gathering, with a fuller sound on tap if it becomes a party.
What people say
A few words from the venues, couples, and event hosts I've played for across Surrey and the South East.
“Love finding out Aaron is playing in a local pub near me — always such a fantastic night. My son surprised me with a party for my 40th and got Aaron to do the music; we had a fab night dancing and singing to all our favourites.”
“We loved having you there, Aaron — it made the night, and so many people have commented.”
